How to Sew a Mitered Border – Triangle Masterclass from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

Triangles quilts are absolutely beautiful, but they can also be intimidating. Getting your blocks to turn out the right size with all of your points in the right place can be a bit of a challenge.

That’s why we created the Triangle Masterclass, a collection of eight videos focusing on different types of triangle units that are commonly used in quilts.

In today’s video I show you how to sew a mitered border. This is a technique a reserve only for when the quilt or the fabric calls for it. What I mean by that is when there ...

Easy Loop Meander – Beginner Friendly Free Motion Quilting Stitch from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

Today we’re going to look at how I quilted Whirligig, our latest Stashin’ with Stephanie pattern with an easy loop meander.

This beginner-friendly free motion quilting stitch is great as an all over design. For Whirligig, I wanted something fast, but that I could customize to fit the size of the blocks and quilt the background separately from the print fabrics.

So I loaded the quilt on sideways so I was quilting from top to bottom so I could quilt the entire way across without having to break my thread. Then I quilted the easy loop meander in the ...

Star Block Fat Quarter Friendly Quilt! Beginner-Friendly Pattern from Fat Quarter Workshop from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

Twinkle is one of my favorite patterns in my best-selling book Fat Quarter Workshop. It is a large scale block that features two colliding stars.

The design of the block makes it great for fabric collections that have a lot of low volume neutrals that don’t offer a lot of value contrast with the background. We use them in the center of the block and the darker fabrics as the star points to clearly define the block and all all the fabrics to shine.

The original fabric in the book quilt is long gone, so we remade Twinkle for ...

Quilting a Star Block with Custom Wavy Lines for a Stunning POP! from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

In today’s video I show you how to take a really simple wavy line quilting design and use it to create custom quilting in a star block.

We’ve done wavy lines before. They make a fabulously fast edge-to-edge design. But when you use wavy lines to travel from the center of your star block out to the points, the results are stunning. Just watch the video to check our this beginner friendly and FAST quilting design.

The quilt I am working on is Tree Star, our latest pattern release from our Stashin’ with Stephanie subscription club. Members receive ...

Rulerwork Quilting Triangles! Great quilting designs for half square triangles from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

In today’s video I am showing you how I quilted Tropical Garden, our latest Stashin’ with Stephanie pattern.

The fat quarter-friendly is packed with half square triangles, and I wanted to accentuate that with the quilting. So I outlined every single triangle with stitch-in-the-ditch and then stitched a triangle through the center of each HST half.

I love the way it turned out. The texture of the quilting mimics the design of the quilt and it’s fabulous. You can watch as I quilt seeing how I move the ruler around to create this texture with minimal thread breaks ...

Rulerwork quilting in diamond quilt block! Longarm or Domestic Rulerwork Quilting Tutorial from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

In today’s video I show you how I quilted Starburst, a NO Y-seam diamond pattern from my book, “Fat Quarter Workshop: 12 Skill-Building Patterns.” You can grab a signed copy here: https://shop.quiltaddictsanonymous.com/product/fat-quarter-workshop-12-skill-building-patterns-available-for-pre-order/

I just love diamond blocks. They look a lot harder to put together than they actually are, and I believe they deserve special treatment when you quilt them.

So in this tutorial I show you how I use straight and curvy rulers to stitch-in-the-ditch to outline the diamonds and then create uniform arcs inside the blocks. The results are stunning.

Rulerwork looks ...

I didn’t have a ton of time for quilting … we’ve all be there … so I pulled out one of my tried and true all over stitches for a fun, whimsical quilting stitch that is easy and super fast.

The Double Loop meander is very easy to master. You’re just making one loop, then a bigger loop around it going clockwise, switching directions and going counter clockwise for the next set of loops and repeating until your quilt is done.
